From 17th
June till 30th July 2011 gallery Bletterbox in Oelsnitz/ Erzgebirge presents a
solo exhibition with the Georgian artist Elene Rakviashvili and, at the same
time gallery Stadthalle Oelsnitz presents the group exhibition „Armenia/Georgia
Inside/Out“. The opening event starts at 6pm in gallery Bletterbox at Meinertstraße
4 in Oelsnitz/Erzgebirge with the attendance of Caucasian artists.Both photo exhibitions reflect impressions of contemporary Caucasus but with different points of view. Elene Rakviashvili focuses on the role of women inside of a still very traditional society. With „Armenia/Georgia Inside/Out“ artists from Georgia and Armenia show us their internal view, artists from Germany and Austria a view from outside and one Armenian artist from the diaspora with his unique focus.
Also you can see the artworks of the Georgian photographer Juri Mechitow until June 30th in the context of the exhibition for the award of the Reiner Kunze price from the town of Oelsnitz in the city library/Rote Schule. Other participating artists are Matthias Jackisch/Dresden, Susann Popp/Oelsnitz und Max Neumann/Berlin.
The
exhibitions are part of the project Transkaukazja2011 which is about presenting
contemporary art from Caucasus and organized by the Kultur Aktiv e.V from
Dresden.
