Final presentation “Woman_looking from” in Dresden/DE!
2013-06-24
/ Elena PagelIn 2013/06/28 the extraordinary trio of three female artists from Caucasus will present under the title “Woman_looking from” its results of an artist in residence in Dresden/DE which took several weeks in the frame of the project Transkaukazja.

Gender specific inequality stands in the focus of their researches and how this issues is evident compared to their home situations. We are curious about to see what Elene Rakviashvili (GE), Eva Harut (AM) and Sabina Shikhlinskaya (AZ) together with curator Elena Pagel will present us.

The idea to choose “gender” as a topic arose while the curators and organizers of Transkaukazja were visiting the countries in Southern Caucasus region, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan. Here inequality between men and women is still obvious, especially in the province. Traditional views and expectations from women as obedient subjects of their fathers, brothers and husbands are still prevalent. This not only interferes with the expansion of women’s possibilities, but also still allows gender-based discrimination and even violence. What has already happened:
