Chveneburebi band (Georgia)
Each of the group members is from different parts of Georgia that helps them to keep authentic tradition and manner of singing. Except singing, each member of the group can dance and play Georgian folk instruments. Each of them can sing all three voices and is distinguished by the special voice tembre. Therefore, “Chveneburebi” has maintained the real, authentic character and manner of performance.
“Chveneburebi” regularly arranges folk expeditions in regions of Georgia. They work on discovering old folk songs, their different variants and introducing them to the society. They work also on archive records of Georgian folk songs.
"Chveneburebi" is also successfully travelling abroad. Since the foundation till today members of the group have performed in different countries of Europe and Asia.

Mamadou Diouf is musician, singer and DJ; he originates from Senegal, but for more than 25 years he has lived in Poland. He studied to be a veterinarian, but chose poetry and music as his way of life. He sings in Wolof, Polish and French. Departments 8 - context of the walk:
The last months events in Ukraine reminded us how fragile our sense of security really is.
Conquering the "new" territory in style of XIXth century empires brings overwhelming feeling of powerless for those affected by brutal agression. The walk will be dedicated to the power of powerless - the different ways of resistance - when weak become strong to oppose against dominant power:
Case: Caucasus
In summer 1795 Shusha was subjected to a major attack by Aga Muhammad khan Qajar, son of Muhammad Hassan khan who attacked Shusha in 1752. Aga Muhammad khan Qajar's goal was to end with the feudal fragmentation and to restore the old Safavid State in Iran. For this purpose he also wanted to proclaim himself shah (king) of Iran. However, according to the Safavid tradition, shah had to take control over the whole of South Caucasus before his coronation. Therefore, Karabakh Khanate and its fortified capital Shusha, were the first and major obstacle to achieve these ends.
Aga Muhammad khan Qajar besieged Shusha with his 80,000-strong army. Ibrahim Khalil khan mobilized the population for a long-term defense. The number of militia in Shusha reached 15,000. Women fought together with men. The Armenian population of Karabakh also actively participated in this struggle against the invaders and fought side by side with the Muslim population, jointly organizing ambushes in the mountains and forests. The siege lasted for 33 days. Not being able to capture Shusha, Aga Muhammad khan ceased the siege

Case: Portugal
In 1961 two Portuguese students were sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for raising their glasses in a toast to freedom at a Lisbon bar. This story inspired Peter Benenson to start Amnesty International - that is now the biggest human rights movement worldwide. The Transkaukazja/departments 8 Walk will take place just on the day after the 40th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution (Revolução dos Cravos) that freed Portugal from authoritarian dictatorship.
Case: Senegal
In 1819 the women of the village Nder sacrified their lives not to become slaves of Maur invaders.

Projecto constituído por caminhadas interdisciplinares por Castelo de Vide com artistas do Cáucaso e Portugal (Arménia, Azerbaijão e Geórgia) e concerto com o grupo folk da Georgia “Chveneburebi”
Programa:
10h00-13h00 caminhada inter-disciplinar (ponto de partida Rua cândido dos Reis, nº 80 de 15 em 15 minutos).
15h00-17h00 caminhada inter-disciplinar (ponto de partida Rua cândido dos Reis, nº 80 de 15 em 15 minutos).
21h30- Concerto grupo Chveneburebi- Igreja de São Francisco.
As caminhadas interdisciplinares serão orientadas por Jahandir Youssouf (Azerbaijão) e Vardan Harutyunyan (Arménia). Os participantes serão munidos de um mapa de Castelo de Vide que indicará um percurso a percorrer. Ao longo desse percurso, os participantes irão encontrar várias actividades artísticas.
(recomendamos o uso de calçado confortável)
