International music workshops and concert of Transkaukazja in Warsaw!
2014-09-06
TRANSKAUKAZJA is the international, interdisciplinary art program inspired by contemporary Caucasus. From Portugal to Ukraine - Transkaukazja create new art projects with participation of artists from Caucasus and other parts of the world.
2014 is non-festival year of Transkaukazja - still with many inspiring art projects organized across Europe. Undoubtedly the Warsaw concert of very talented and reknowed musicians from Caucasus, Caribbean and Poland will be one of the most inspiring highlights of the intenational Transkaukazja 2014. The concert will be also occasion to celebrate the first edition of the One Caucasus Festival - the festival that brings young people from whole Caucasus to the borderland of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan (One Caucasus is at the same time - "younger sister" of Transkaukazja).
Join us in Warsaw, Palladium Club (Złota 9) on Tuesday, 28th of October for joint music projects from:
CHVENEBUREBI - one of the most renowned ensambles of Georgian famous polyphonic singing. Chveneburebi's members represents 'music families' coming from various regions of Georgia, representing spirit and extraordinary local cultures of multi-etnic Caucasus.
CLIVE BROWN & THE SHEKINAH SINGERS - representing the best of contemporary music from UK - Clive Brown & The Shekinah Singers are the performers of gospel and funk. The band and choir members are of Caribbean origin (mainly Jamaica). Once you have chance to witness their concert live - you realize that the most energetic gospel is not any more rooted in United States but it is based in London. The band and choir has recently performed in Georgia for One Caucasus Festival.
VOŁOSI - the new face of World music from Poland. One of the most award-winning performers from Poland is part of many joint Polish-Caucasus music projects in framework of Transkaukazja (and recently One Caucasus). Simon Broughton (the founder of Songlines Encounters Festival) wrote after Vołosi & 33a performence (Transkaukazja 2013, London):
"...a great Polish-meets-Georgian project (...). It sounded great on paper and was a revelation on stage. The Polish ingredient was Vołosi, a string quintet so tight that it was like one instrument played by five
people (...) Lyrical, exciting and adventurous music..."
WARSAW HORNS created by some of the best saxophone, trombone, trumpet instrumentalists from Poland (performing on regular bases with top of Polish rock, reggae, ska, pop bands) will perform with musicians from Caucasus and Caribbean.
In addition to this music celebration on 28th of October - we invite you to take part in poliphonic singing workshop on Wednesday 29th of October - click here for more info.
TRANSKAUKAZJA is co-funded by Warsaw City Hall and is implemented with the support of European Union Culture Program.
